THE OFFICE OF . . .
In honor or Mother’s Day, I wanted to share a little love for Lindsay, my dear friend and a mother-to-be! An entrepreneur with a gem of a shop called Alchemy Works, Lindsay has an interior designer’s eye and serious knack for curating. She and her husband Raan, of menswear brand Apolis (housed down the street) have set the tone for their Arts District neighborhood with tailored minimalism combined with a relaxed California beach town vibe.
Where do you live?
Culver City, CA
Where did you grow up?
Yes one brother, Peter
Tell us a bit about what you do, and how you got there?
I am currently the co-owner in Alchemy Works with my husband Raan. I do the buying and merchandizing of our two stores alongside our amazing growing team. My road here included time as a financial advisor in Santa Barbara and also a wardrobe stylist in LA for many years before becoming the retailer I am today.
What does style mean to you?
It means individuality, confidence and creativity – but also a fun necessary means to the end daily to create excitement and a voice for my mood.
Who is your style icon?
Gabriella Crespi (Italian furniture designer and style maven)
What is your most valued possession?
Found items that Raan has collected for me on his travels – Peru, Japan, Italy – and a vintage YSL linen tuxedo dress.
Name one woman dead or alive that you would want to meet.
Linda Rodin or Iris Apfel
What is your favorite sweet?
Mint chocolate chip ice cream with rainbow sprinkles
What is one song on your personal soundtrack?
All Eyes On You, St Lucia or When We Were Young, Adele
Who do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be that cool old lady, with a well traveled style both in clothing and in my home. Wearing or displaying pieces of my life's journey. I want to entertain and tell stories of trips and chance encounters. Hopefully all with a home full of laughter, love and good wine.
